Nordic Walking - Cross Walking

The Ledro Valley, which is suspended between lakes Garda and Idro, has a varied morphology.
In the northern side there is a beautiful crown of mountains, from where stands out the Monte Cadria, which is the highest of the Alps of Ledro (2254 m). In the southern side you find the Carone-Tremalzo-Tombea groups, particularly interesting from the botanical point of view and for the several excursion possibilities.
The valley bottom is ideal for relaxing and pleasant walks with no difference of level.
The walk around the lake is completely level and suitable for everybody, it also offers with nice panoramas; Concei and Pur valleys offer the possibility to walk in relax surrounded by the green of the wood and the nature.

Bezzecca's history

Meeting point: in front of the church of Bezzecca at 2.00 p.m.
Duration: about 3 hours
No relevant difference in level.

We walk up into the trenches built by the Italian troups in the "S.Stefano" hill near Bezzecca during WWI, so we have the chance to get to know about the Garibaldi fight in 1866 and all the events that strongly affected our valley. We continue our walk into the Val dei Molini and visit the small S. Lucia church (14th century), which has been completely restored in 1998 and where interesting frescoes have been discovered.

The Torrent Ponale Valley

Walking time: about 3,30 hours
Diff. in level: 350 m.

We cross Prè and walk downhill towards east, along the paths on the right side of the Ponale torrent. We see two “calchère” (ovens for the production of lime) and we reach the old and steep mule track that led to the homonymous harbour on the Benacus Lake (Garda Lake). Magnificent view on the rocks perpendicularly the lake and the road carved in it, according to the project of Giacomo Cis. We come back to the starting point partly on other paths.

To Lake Ampola

at 2.00 p.m.
Walking time: about 3 hours.
No difference in level.

Afternoon walk along the Ampola Valley, in the western part of the Ledro-Alps, to the small lake, which is a protected biotope. We will have the chance to observe and talk about the morphology of the area and about the peculiar plants that grow in the wet grassland, in the reed thicket and in the lake. We will spend a short time in the visitors’ centre and then return to Tiarno di Sopra. Entrance fee Euro 1,00.

To the rock of Polì

Meeting point: in front of the church in Lenzumo at 2 a.m.
Walking time: about 3 h.
Difference in level: 200 m.

From Lenzumo an easy path through the meadows leads us to the wood, where we walk uphill till the rocks with a small waterfall. We can observe the wood vegetation and, if we are lucky, see animals such as the newt.

The ancient Romans

Meeting point: on the church square of Tiarno di Sotto at 2.00 p.m.
Walking time: about 3,30 hours.
Difference in level: 350 m.

During this round circuit we will deal with different historical and naturalistic matters. We go along one of the most important Roman roads that connected the southern Sarca Valley with the Giudicarie and walk on the Roman "Croina" bridge. The small "S.Giorgio" church, the water mill on the Massangla river and the "Gor d'Abiss" gorge with waterfall offer further starting points for discussion and observation.

Alpine pasture of Cadria

Meeting point: in locality Ex-Centrale at 9 a.m.
Walking time: about 6 h.
Difference in level: 900 m

On the forest road you go up through the steep valley until the grazings of Vies. Above the wood line, the view opens on the highest mountains of the Val di Ledro and the military path becomes more pleasant and confortable till the striking hollow between mounts Cadria and Nozzolo. Here the observation of the alpine nature is really interesting. On the same path we come back.

View on the Lake

Meeting point: in front of the church of Lenzumo at 8.30 a.m.
Walking time: about 5 hours.
Diff. in level: 600 m.

We get organized to go up by car to the parking below Malga Trat. We start our walk and take the parh called “senter de le vacche” (cows' path) and go up to Cima Carèt. The view opens beyond the Alps of Ledro on the Adamello Group and becomes astonishing when we reach the peak Cima Parì (1988 m). We go down to Bocca Saval and, following a stretch of the “Peace Path”, we get to the Pernici Refuge nearby Bocca Trat. From here we reach in a short time our starting point.

Alpine pastures of Tremalzo

Meeting point: Passo Tremalzo, at 9.00 a.m. in the parking place in front of Albergo Garda.
Walking time: about 5 hours.
Difference in level: 500 m.

In the wide dell below the Tremalzo-Pass, which is surrounded by peculiar lime stone strata, we follow a very beautiful and easy round itinerary. We meet four alpine grazing places that are still in use for cattle and sheep or goat herds. Wonderful waterfall, the flora and the geological formations are very interesting.
